MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES FINAL:
Tony Garelja (Carlton Cornwall) BT Alex Reed (Pt Chevalier) 21-15. What a great final Tony was first up on the score board but had Alex close behind to take 4 ends from him bringing the score to 7-5 in Alex’s favour in the 6th end. The game was tied up in the 10th, 12th, 14th ends. From this point Alex took the lead and was up 14-10 in the 16th end. Tony accelerated his game from the 17th end winning the next 6 ends. Alex wasn’t able to come back and the game went to Tony 21-15.
WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES FINAL:
Sheila Putu (St Heliers) BT Leeane Poulson (Mangere) 21-11. This was a game that could have gone either way with these 2 extremely talented young bowlers. Leeane started the scoring but was soon chased down by Sheila who put her game into overdrive and and took the lead after the 4th round, Leeane couldn’t find a way back in, the win going to Sheila 21-11.Â
MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES SEMI FINALS:
Alex Reed (Pt Chevalier) BT Gordon Smith (Pringle Park) 21-3. This was all Alex’s game from the first bowl unfortunately for Gordon Smith, just not being able to get a look in only winning 1 end with a 3.Â
Tony Garelja (Carlton Cornwall) is our 2nd Finalist beating Gavin Brown (Royal Oak) 21-16. This was a good Semi-Final with both players keeping each other on their toes. The game was all tied up in the 8th end 8-8 but then Tony took the lead and held onto it with a lot of pressure from Gavin who was never far behind.
WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES SEMI FINALS:
Leeane Poulson (Mangere) BT Bunty Hotene (Bridge Park) 21-7. Bunty was first up on the score board but from the 4th end Leeane took control of the game and held the lead all the way to the final end winning her spot into the Final.Â
Sheila Putu (St Heliers) BT Jill Fraser (Carlton Cornwall) 21-16. This was a excellent Semi Final both players were relentless! Both holding the lead several times throughout the game. In the 13th end Sheila was down 16-9 then went on the win the next 10 ends to win her spot into the Club Championship Singles Final!
