A very exciting Final! Bridge Park were first on the board with a one, but Carlton answered with a two in the second, a great five by Bridge Park in the fourth end saw them take the lead and hold it until the seventh, where Carlton scored a massive six to recover the lead – but only until the next end when Bridge Park took a four, holding the lead until the 13th end where Carlton scored a two to equalise 17 points a piece. Carlton went one ahead in the 14th 18-17 – just one point separating the teams going in to the final end – the spectators at Papatoetoe and online watching the live-stream were on the edge of their seats, Carlton scoring an impressive five to take the title 21-17. Well done to both teams on the great bowls!
The Men had a larger field to get through, playing to and completing their semi’s. In the first it was Gojko Bulog, Mate Tolj, Ken McDermott, Barry Green – Carlton Cornwall vs Glen Newton, Warren Adams, Tony Marumaru, Tusi Tumua – Mangere. Carlton chipping away to take the match 10-7. In the other Semi it was a high energy match between Royal Oak’s Mike Galloway, Martin Dixon, David Akaruru and James Gavin vs Adam Wishnoski, Keith Ansell, Sean Hird and Bruce Walters – New Lynn it was 14-14 at the 14th end! The Boys from Royal Oak taking the win 15-14 in the final end. Not to be out done by the Women’s Live feed with excellent commentary from Alex Reed and Trish Croot. Mangere’s Jordon King provided a rink-side commentary for the spectators at Papatoetoe.
