Competitive day at Henderson Bowls for the Steve Ozich Triples
22 teams enjoyed a beautify sunny day for the Ozich Open Triples tournament, with members of Henderson Bowls joined by players from Titirangi, Mt Eden, Glenfield, New Lynn, and Blockhouse bay.
Blustery winds made for some lively bowling requiring concentration and patience from all. Play throughout the day was competitive, with the winners the only team with achieving 4 straight wins.
1st – Billy Fulton, Dinko Jelicich, Vic Pumipi (Henderson)
Runners up: Colin Mitchell (Blockhouse Bay we think), John Edwards (H), Keith Graham (H)
3rd: David Featherstone, Les Deli, Garry Young (Henderson)
4th: Weng Lim (Blockhouse Bay), Vidak Botica (Henderson), Mark Posa (Henderson)
The Tournament is held in honour of Steve Ozich (1890-1994), prominent business figure in the development of Henderson in the mid-20th century, and a founding and long-time member of Henderson Bowls.
Club President Peter Chapman thanked the players for taking part, Westpac Mussels and Mussas Automotive Pumps (owned and operated by Tony, Steve Ozich’s Grandson) for their generous sponsorship of the event, and the hard-working club volunteers who contributed to the smooth running of the day.
